Team CH vs Victorian
Team CH were due to face off with Victorian today on a late Sunday night. The players were up against a very good team with technically sound players who can pass the ball well. Nevertheless, the coach has a simple plan in mind for the game and the players rose to the occasion and played according to plan. With some luck, the result might have shifted in our favour.
Singapore Floorball League Division 4
Team CH vs Victorian
Choa Chu Kang Sports Hall
5-7 (0-2, 4-4, 1-1)
The first period started off with some disciplined defending from Team CH and restricted Victorian to only several long shots and half chances. The players were able to match them and had a couple of chances of their own on the counter attack. In fact, the shot ratio was 3-4, which reflected a very even period. However, Victorian got their lucky break when one of their long shots was unwittingly deflected past Lander in the 17th minute. Even more so when their efforts paid off as the ball was kicked into the goal by a Team CH defender. Victorian went into the break with a 0-2 lead.
The players were briefed on the game plan again and reminded to stick to the plan and be patient to win the ball back. The lack of players also meant that they needed to conserve their energy to last the full game. Victorian scored again with a shot that squeezed past a blind spot of the goal in the 5th minute.
Team CH finally got their well deserved goal 2 minutes later form Jia Wei with a great shot from the right into the top far corner. Joshua made it 2-3 before Su Kiat scored with a similar shot to draw level. Unfortunately, Victorian took the lead again with another fortuitous goal but the players did well and equalised again through Su Kiat. Team CH was unable to hold on as they forced their way to attack and left gaps behind which Victorian took advantage of to pull ahead with another 2 goals.
The third period was a highly intense one as Victorian once again scored 2 minutes into the period. Jarryl pull one back with 5 minutes to go and the team reverted to their usual playing style which was unable to yield any further goals unfortunately.
The coach was satisfied with the disciplined game the players put in, but the opponents had the better share of luck today. The team was able to match their opponents and everyone played with great spirit on court, showing the determination to keep pushing on even when everyone was tired. This attitude will put the players in good stead for their development and they must never lose this drive of theirs.
