Team CH vs Team TJ
After a training session in the morning to fine tune their defensive positioning, the players rested enough to prepare themselves for the late match against Team TJ. There was a moment of anticipation when the opponents were nowhere to be seen 15 minutes from time but they eventually arrived, coming straight from their training camp in school.
It was not an ideal lead up for Team TJ, with the players feeling fatigued coupled with the short warm up time available. However, Team CH were in no mood for compassion as they seek to build on their previous win.
Singapore Floorball League Division 4
Team CH vs Team TJ
Choa Chu Kang Sports Hall
8-1 (1-0, 4-0, 3-1)
The first period was tightly contested but the defenders from Team CH stuck resolutely to their defensive task to shut out Team TJ. Joshua broke through on the 3rd minute with a shot to the near post that somehow squeezed past the goalkeeper to put Team CH ahead. The team subsequently dominated the rest of the first period without being able to score further.
The players were reminded to step up the intensity of their game and continue to keep the back line tight for the next period. In the 6th minute, Darrell scored with a spin shot assisted by Ryan off a free hit. The goal left Team TJ rooted for a moment due to the speed of the strike. They managed to recover from the setback to force Team CH back into their half but a counter attack saw Chee Keong tap in a high bouncing ball from close range which the goalkeeper could do nothing about. Darius extended the lead by scoring inside a busy goal area following a good pass from Ryan. Joshua scored his second goal 45 seconds later, putting the ball into the net to lead 5-0.
With a comfortable lead, Team CH showed no signs of letting up as the coach fielded 4 fresh players to maintain the pressure on their opponents. Isaac, one of the fresh players, found himself unmarked at the far post to finish off a perfect pass from Joshua. However, a lapse in concentration saw a Team TJ forward tap in a goal from close range shortly after. Another pair of fresh legs, Kenneth, who has a knack of being at the right place at the right time, scored his goal after Chee Keong pressured the ball of the defender to make the assist. Joshua finished off the game with his hat trick after being put through by Crenshawn 2 minutes from time.
It was unfortunate that Team TJ were unable to perform to their full potential as fatigue took a toll on them, but credit to Team CH for always pressing hard and playing according to plan. It was their biggest win in the league so far but the players must not get too carried away with the victory as there are 3 more games left to be played. The bench players are to be commended for making a great impact in the game after sitting at the sidelines for 2 periods. It is not easy waiting a chance to play and they did extremely well, contributing 2 goals in the final period.
