OPS vs CHS
The team is facing off against Orchid Park Secondary School in their third match of the National Inter-School competition. After a win and a loss, the players will have to step up to get a result from this match if they were to have a chance to qualify for the second round. This game will definitely be in their hands so long as they stay focused on doing their job individually. However, the players from Orchid Park Secondary School had other ideas as they mounted a serious fightback in the second period.
The first period started off on an even note, with the players from Catholic High School having the major share of possession. They were unable to break the deadlock until halfway through the period when Warren broke through the defence to score the first goal. He added a second 3 minutes later to put the team up by 2 goals. Towards the end of the period, the team was awarded a power play when an opponent player was penalized for heading the ball. The team was unable to take advantage to further extend their lead though.

Bukit Merah Secondary School
4-7 (0-2, 4-2, 0-3)
During the interval, the players were briefed to stay focused and keep the defence tight as the opponents are most likely to throw everything they have at them to try and take something away from the game. True to the coach’s prediction, Orchid Park scored their first goal after 4 minutes and continued to dominate the team for long periods of time. Jie Ying restored the 2-goal margin shortly after to keep the pressure on the opponents. However, with 3 minutes left on the clock, Orchid Park scored 3 goals, while Warren pulled one back to keep the scoreline at 4-4. It was a terrible defensive showing by the team and it was no wonder the coach was infuriated by the end of the period.
The players were sent onto the court with the instructions to stick to their duties and play as they did in the first period for the final 15 minutes. The suspense was maintained for 10 minutes until Jie Ying put the team ahead with 5 minutes left. Exactly a minute later, the team regained the 2-goal cushion with another great goal from Jie Ying. As the team was awarded with a free hit with 1 second left, Jiali laid off the ball to Jie Ying to complete his hat-trick for the third period.
The final score would have been much better if not for the fightback by Orchid Park in the second period. It showed that the team must keep their focus for the entire duration of the game and defend hard even when in the lead. The final period performance was much better and it also showed that we are capable of delivering so long as the players stick to their duties on court. Maintaining tactical discipline is one of the most important, yet difficult task for any player and it is a must that everybody stick to their most basic duties in the game.
