SMU Scorpions vs Team CH
The team has chalked up 5 losses now and this match will be the perfect opportunity to turn the result in our favour for once. Having similarly edged past Weekend Warriors by a single goal the previous weekend, Team CH should have a chance against SMU Scorpions.
The emphasis in the first period was to keep it tight at the back while trying to find gaps in the opponent’s defence. The plan worked to good effect as Jarryl’s shot from the right was slammed in by Darrell who was lurking at the far post. SMU Scorpions were awarded a penalty when the referee penalized Jarryl for standing in the goalkeeper’s box. Lander did well to cover his angle for the opponent to shoot right into him to be denied a goal.
SMU Scorpions pressed hard and a slight lapse in concentration allowed an SMU player to score with a bouncing shot that escaped everyone and into the bottom corner of the goal. It was an unfortunate goal and credit to the players for not losing focus on the game as they continued to press on for the win.

SMU Scorpions vs Team CH
Choa Chu Kang Sports Hall
3-4 (1-1, 1-1, 1-2)
The second period began with both teams having their turns at pressuring the goal. In a particularly intense period of possession by SMU, they finally found the space needed for a shot which went straight into the top far corner in the 10th minute. Team CH was not to be outdone as Crenshawn made no mistake with a great shot into the top far corner of the goal at a tight angle. He had beaten the goalkeeper on two previous occasions only to be denied by the goal posts, but he still kept his composure to make sure of this goal.
The third period proved to be the decisive one as both teams continued their high pressure on each other. Team CH had many chances but the SMU goalkeeper was outstanding and saved many certain goals. The pressure eventually got into him as a long shot from Jarryl which seemed to be going over the goal was deflected in as he attempted to catch hold of it. Nevertheless, the SMU players worked hard to equalise with 10 minutes to go.
Three minutes after the equalising goal, Joshua cleared with a high ball from the back towards Crenshawn, who had sneaked in front of the goal to cushion the drop and tap the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper for the winning goal. It proved too much for the opponents as their captain was given a bench penalty with just 3 minutes remaining for pushing. Team CH dominated the final exchanges to end the game with a much awaited win in their 8th game of the season.
The coach had predicted an extremely close game today but he will no doubt be satisfied that the players played hard to dominate much of the match. The intensity of the game was high and the tempo was good. Most importantly, the players finally had their win after a run of losses.

Screw them, injure my knee…
