CHS vs CS

23 December 2009 4 Comments

The final friendly before the holiday break would be against Coral Secondary School. Everyone was looking forward to the match as they had played against them last year and lost. This time round, they will want to see if they have improved over the year and went about the pre-match routines with a little more enthusiasm than usual. The opponents were missing a few key players due to overseas holiay, but still proved to be a match for us, showing that they are always capable of getting results.

We began with the ‘B’ Division boys and Isaac took just over a minute to score the first goal. Darrell added a second not long after before Isaac finished off the period with another accurate shot. The opposing players were clearly not into their game yet, given the short warm up which they had prior to the match. The boys were told to watch out for the second period as a precaution.

6-3 (3-0, 2-1, 1-2)

The players from Coral Secondary School stepped up their play and were rewarded with a goal shortly after the start of the second period, after Dion and Min Hao failed to keep track of the forward. However, Jarryl got on the score sheet twice towards the end to put us ahead 5-1.

It was the final period that the opponents piled up the pressure, shooting on sight from all positions in our half. They were able to score 2 goals, with Dickson squeezing in the final goal under the goal keeper at the end to finish the game 6-3 in our favour.

It was a good match for the boys, who learned that they would have to finish off all the half chances that we had today in order to do even better.

The ‘C’ Division were next and they succumbed to 3 goals in a short span of 5 minutes. The opponents kept the pressure up to end the period 0-4 in their favour.

After some pointers from the coach, the boys put on a much improved defensive display in the second period to keep a clean sheet. Warren scored the only goal with a well taken shot into the far bottom corner. The opponents then managed to score another goal in the final period to end the game 1-5.

The team has shown that they are capable of playing well when they put their mind to it. They will have to carry this mentality to keep on improving as much as they can before the season for them begins.
