Friendly Matches »
Having ended the season a week ago, the players were given a break to catch up on their studies and prepare for the examinations. This friendly was postponed as we could not fit it in our schedule earlier on. Although the season was over, this friendly gave the players a chance for some action, as well as a glimpse to how the team will form up for the next season. It was unfortunate however, that only the ‘B’ Division team from HCIS were here, and the Secondary 1 players had to sit out to today.

The crowd was waiting eagerly for the match between Victoria School and Raffles Institution to begin. Both teams had come this far without a single loss but there will have to be a winner today in the final game of the National Inter-School Floorball Championships 2009 (‘C’ Division). Supporters from Raffles Institution came in droves and outnumbered the Victoria crowd. However, they were undaunted as they made up for the lack in numbers by their relentless cheering.

The first semi-final match pits Victoria School against Northland Secondary School. The players from Victoria are favourites to emerge victorious from this match following their fine run of form from the preliminary stages. On the Northland bench were 8 field players and 1 goalkeeper, apprently under-strength for a game of such stature.

With the season all but over, a victory today will put us at third place in the table, a consolation for our efforts for the year. Our opponents also faced the same circumstance and with nothing to play for except for pride. The first period began with Samuel scoring in the second minute with a testing shot that sneaked in past the goalkeeper at his far post. It was a surprise goal because the keeper was expected to deal with it comfortably. Nevertheless, it put us in the lead for now.
