Training Schedule (March 2009)

Please note that attendance is compulsory and any absence from training must be supported with valid documentary proof as per school rule. The absentee is responsible for submitting all such document/s to the teacher-in-charge on the next school day when he returns. Absence without valid proof is considered truancy and disciplinary actions will be taken against the offender.

Training Session (14/03/09)

I bought my new toy at the IT Show 2 days ago and was eager to test it out. Today was also the first time the Secondary 1 players joined in the combined training. Despite several hiccups due to the unfamiliarity with the drills, the training went smoothly. With proper guidance and hard work, they will definitely be able to mature into good players. This would require the combined effort of both the coach and the seniors. Hopefully, they will be able to take up this responsibility well.

SLS vs CHS

Catholic High School faced Si Ling Secondary School in their match today. Having played well in the opening match a week ago, the team was looking to continue their winning streak. However, the first period did not go as well as planned and the players found it difficult raise the intensity of the game. Their movements were sluggish and they struggled to string their passes properly. Although we dominated the game in terms of possession, we had trouble trying to put the ball into the opponent’s goal.

Goalkeeper Individual Tactics

The goalkeeper is the last man in defence and more often than not, it is the goalkeeper who pulls the team through any evenly contested match. A good goalkeeper instills confidence in his team by providing a reliable safety net for his defenders and allows the attackers to roam forward with an ease of mind. The goalkeeper is indeed a very important player in the team.

VS vs BMS

Victoria School and Bukit Merah Secondary School meet each other in the final match following their unbeaten run in the championships. After a disappointing season last year, Victoria will be mounting a serious bid for the title against defending champions Bukit Merah. Although both teams have what it takes to win, one team will have to go home heartbroken today in this clash of the titans.
